Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 23 August 2026 · Clear, fair guidance for accidental, duplicate or failed donations.
A completed donation is a gift. Funds are often allocated to field work within days. We therefore cannot treat giving like a shop-return. We will, however, put a genuine mistake right.
1. Cancellation
If you close the Razorpay window before paying, nothing is captured and you need not do anything. If a payment is still “created” or “pending” on our side and never verifies, it is not treated as a donation.
A payment that has been server-verified cannot ordinarily be cancelled, because the corresponding relief may already have been committed.
2. When we refund
Write to donations@dryground.org.in within 7 calendar days of the debit if:
- the same gift was charged twice;
- you entered a clearly wrong amount (for example an extra zero) and the gift has not yet been spent;
- you are not the owner of the instrument and the charge was unauthorised;
- we cannot apply the gift to the cause you chose and you do not want it moved to the General Fund.
Please send the payment / order ID, amount, date, name used at checkout, and the reason. We may ask for a bank statement extract.
3. How refunds are paid
Approved refunds go back to the original method (the same UPI handle, card or account). Banks typically post them in 7–10 business days after we initiate. Gateway charges already deducted by Razorpay may be non-refundable where the law and the gateway contract allow.
Offline gifts are refunded only to the account that paid us, after the Treasurer countersigns.
4. Failed or dropped transactions
If your account is debited but our page shows failure, wait 3–5 business days for an automatic bank reversal. If it does not arrive, contact your bank with the UTR / payment ID and copy donations@dryground.org.in. We will share our gateway status.
5. What we do not refund
- A change of mind after the gift is verified and allocated.
- Gifts made in someone else’s name where the honouree later disagrees, unless the payment itself was unauthorised.
- Foreign-currency attempts that we decline under FCRA. Those should not capture; if they do, they are returned.
6. Chargebacks
If you raise a chargeback with your bank, please also write to us so we can pause allocation and respond with the verification record. Abuse of chargebacks may be reported.
