Dry Ground Foundation

This policy applies to dryground.org.in, our donation checkout, volunteer and contact forms, and offline records we keep as a charitable trust. The data fiduciary is Dry Ground Foundation, 24, Community Centre, New Delhi 110001, India.

1. Data we collect

We collect what you give us: name, optional email, optional mobile number, donation amount and cause, messages, gift-dedication details, volunteer or CSR form fields, and any document-request notes. Technical data includes IP address, device type, pages viewed and cookie identifiers needed to run the site. We do not ask for Aadhaar, PAN of donors (unless required later for a statutory receipt), or payment-card numbers.

2. Payment data

Card, UPI and net-banking credentials are entered on Razorpay and are not stored by Dry Ground Foundation. We receive a payment identifier, amount, status and signature so we can verify the gift on our server. A browser “success” screen is never enough on its own.

3. Why we use data

To process and acknowledge donations, including offline gifts.
To issue receipts if and when tax registration allows.
To show first names and quotes on the Supporters Wall only when you opt in.
To answer contact, volunteer, CSR and document requests.
To prevent fraud, keep accounts, and meet legal duties (Income-tax, FCRA prohibition, audit).
To send a quiet newsletter only if you subscribe.

4. Legal basis

We process data with your consent (forms and optional marketing), to perform the donation you asked for, and for legitimate uses that a charitable trust must make — accounts, audit, grievance handling and security. You may withdraw consent for optional uses without affecting a gift already completed.

5. Sharing

We share the minimum necessary with: Razorpay (payments); our hosting and database providers; our statutory auditor; email or SMS providers if configured; and public authorities when the law requires. We do not sell personal data. We do not share donor lists with other charities.

6. Retention

Successful donation records are kept for at least eight years, or longer if a statute requires, because they form part of the Trust’s books. Contact and volunteer enquiries are kept up to three years unless a longer complaint trail is needed. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.

7. Security

Access to administrative tools is restricted to staff accounts. Donation success is verified server-side. Connections use HTTPS. No security measure is perfect; please use a unique password anywhere you hold one, and write to us if you suspect misuse.

8. Cookies

Essential cookies keep the site working (for example a staff session after login). We may use a small analytics cookie to understand which pages help donors. You can block non-essential cookies in your browser. The site will still accept donations without marketing cookies.

9. Your rights

You may request access, correction, erasure (where the law allows), nomination, and withdrawal of optional consent. Statutory financial records cannot always be deleted. Write to privacy@dryground.org.in. We respond within the time the DPDP Act requires.

10. Children

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children in order to take a donation. Photographs of children in our gallery are used to show the work, not to identify a child as a donor or beneficiary in a searchable database. Field teams follow our Safeguarding Policy.

If you are not satisfied, you may also approach the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational for your class of complaint.
